"Aurubis Bulgaria" awarded social investments special prize
Aurubis Bulgaria received a special prize for social investments at the thirteenth edition of the annual awards of the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BIA). The company is honored for its sustainable policy of social responsibility and lasting commitments to the municipalities of Pirdop and Zlatitsa. Aurubis continuously invests in projects at local and national level in the fields of education, culture, young talents development, healthcare. Through its partnership programs with the municipalities of Zlatitsa and Pirdop, as well as additional budgets, the company supports schools and kindergartens in Srednogorie region, develop and maintain sports facilities, supports community centers, groups and sports clubs, disabled people.
“The power of an investor is the attitude towards the people it works with. Our prize is for the company that demonstrates how Bulgaria is a good place to live." Venelina Gocheva, 24 Hours publisher and member of the BIA Jury said when gaving the award to Aurubis Bulgaria CEO Tim Kurth. “This award is for the entire region. We accept it with responsibility and commitment for the future”, Mr. Kurth said during the ceremony at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
In 2018 Aurubis Bulgaria launched also a program to support the preservation of Zlatitsa and Pirdop cultural heritage. Firsts projects are rehabilitation of Zlatitsa nunnery, a historic building from the Bulgarian Revival period and conservation of Pirdop Church woodcarvings and iconostasis. The Pirdop church will celebrate 200 years in 2019. The company started organizing an annual mountain festival aiming to promote the Srednogorie as a region for tourism and leisure. The second edition of "Aurubis Mountain Fest" will take place in September this year at the Elenska basilica site.
