“Social Network for Agricultural Producers” is the winning project in Academy “Innovation in Action” 2016

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium bestowed the first prize on the young innovator Hristina Hristova


25 January 2017, Sofia. At the official ceremony late last night, the winners in the third edition of the “Innovation in Action” 2016 initiative, organized by Solvay Sodi AD, were announced. For the first year, the initiative is realized with the main support of Aurubis Bulgaria AD.

The big winner for 2016 is Hristina Hristova, with her project “Social Network for Agricultural Producers” consists of the development of a platform for easy and prompt communication, using which agrarians will inform apiarists online when proceeding to treating melliferous cultures. Its realization offers a solution to the global problem of bee extinction as a result of the use of pesticides. The prize won by Hristina Hristova is participation in the summer program of Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management in Brussels in 2017. It was bestowed personally by H. E. François Bontemps, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Bulgaria. “The story of Ernest Solvay, a Belgian chemist, industrialist and philanthropist, is inspiring and motivating. I am confident that the participation in Academy “Innovation in Action” will give you the knowledge and skills to be like him and to make the world we live in a better place”, said H. E. François Bontemps in his address to the finalists in the initiative.

Second place and a Master’s degree program in Innovations, Entrepreneurship and Finance from the Higher School of Insurance and Finance (HSIF) and The Business Institute, was won by Daniela Petrova with “THRIFTSHOP STUDIO” Project. This is a program for personal development of children at risk by making items of vinyl, previously used for advertising materials.

Third place was assigned to Katerina Tsenkulovska. Her project includes development of educational puzzle rooms in schools, using which the educational material will be presented in an interesting and funny for the children way. Katerina won a course in Innovational Management, organized by The Business Institute. 

“Today, we are awarding the winners of the third edition of “Innovation in Action”, the edition that I would define as the most successful so far. In 2012, we began with 60 participants and this year, the Academy was completed by 105 participants. Thank you, young people, for your desire to develop and invest in yourselves; we, in Solvay Sodi, believe it is our responsibility to help you do this”, said Spiros Nomikos, CEO of Solvay Sodi AD.  

“The connection between theory and practice is extremely important for each project. Therefore, I would like to thank Solvay Sodi for inviting us to be a part of Innovation in Action. I can confirm that Aurubis Bulgaria will continue its participation in the initiative, thus facilitating the development of young talents and working for increase of their motivation and self-confidence”, shared Tim Kurth, CEO of Aurubis Bulgaria AD.

Official guests of the event were diplomats, representatives of trade organizations, the business, and government institutions. In 2016, 210 young people from Bulgaria and abroad took part in Academy “Innovation in Action”. 105 of them were selected to participate in the online sessions in the cities of Sofia and Varna.
