Official opening of the new Aurubis Storage Facility for copper raw materials

11th May 2017, Burgas – Aurubis Bulgaria, part of leading manufacturer in the metal and copper industry in Europe Aurubis AG, and the biggest private port operator in Bulgaria BMF Port Burgas opened a new Storage Facility for Copper Raw Materials, located at BMF Port Burgas. The new facilities allow the copper concentrates to be transported and stored in confined spaces, the bulk material being treated without loss and scattering, according to the most up-to-date method.

The official presentation of the investment of 15 million euros was attended by minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Mr. Ivaylo Moskovski, Governor of Bourgas Mr. Valcho Cholakov, the representatives of Bourgas municipality Mrs. Chanka Kolarska and Mrs.Veselina Ilieva, as well as the Mayor of Pirdop Mr. Angel Gerov and Mayor of Zlatitsa Mrs. Magdalena Ivanova, chairmen of the municipal councils Mrs. Maria Shentova and Mr. Asen Plahov and other  institutions and media representatives who was hosted by Mr. Georgi Domuschiev, Chairman of the Board of the Directors of BMF Port Bourgas, and Mr. Tim Kurth, Executive Director of Aurubis Bulgaria.

The investment includes: technological facilities for vessels unloading of copper concentrates, their transportation, automated weighing, storage in a closed warehouse and loading onto railway wagons for transportation to the production units of Aurubis Bulgaria, located in the Srednogorie region.

The entire process is managed by a control system and control panel with the latest generation of controllers. It includes combining gantry cranes for unloading copper concentrates into two reception bunkers, conveyer belt system located in closed bunkers, a warehouse with separate storage space for the differentquality concentrates with a built-up area of 6,000 square meters and a project capacity of 65,000 tons. There is built-in sprinkler system against dusting in the warehouse during unloading, as well as an auxiliary building for loading on railway wagons.

In September 2017, the facility will be equipped a state-of-the-art portal hydraulic crane Sennebogen 8400 EQ with minimal noise and no vibrations during operation.
