Minister Teodor Sedlarski on a working visit to Aurubis Bulgaria

The Minister of Economy Teodor Sedlarski visited the biggest copper and copper products manufacturer in Southeast Europe, Aurubis Bulgaria, jointly with representatives of the Ministry. Minister Sedlarski was welcomed by the management of Aurubis Bulgaria, Srednogorie Industrial Cluster, German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the working visit the main activity of the company, its contribution to the Bulgarian economy and the investment made in the past years were presented. The official visit was a sign of the excellent relationship between business and government institutions, as well as recognition for the important place of Aurubis in the country’s economy.

Minister Sedlarki in his turn declared that a company such as Aurubis is a very important economic factor for a country like Bulgaria and the investment made can be noticed by everyone. Bulgaria ranks among the most dynamically developing countries in terms of attractiveness for establishing manufacture. Sustainable development of the industry is a factor for achieving economic growth and building competitive resource-efficient economy. “I can congratulate the management of Aurubis for the transition of the company to one of the best metallurgic works in the whole world. With your activity proves that the future economy is the economy of innovation." he said. Minister Teodor Sedlarski was clear that the Ministry of Economy will continue to work towards a fast developing economy with a focus on innovation and high technology.

In 2016 Aurubis Group celebrated 150 anniversary of the company’s establishment, expressed by the slogan “150 years future”. Special attention was paid to the engineering equipment repair of Aurubis Bulgaria, made in the same year. Minister Sedlarski was acquainted with the social policy of the company, which is developed successfully with the municipalities of Zlatitsa and Pirdop, and the commitment made for saving Pirdop Hospital.

During the meeting Mr. Nikolay Minkov presented the projects of Srednogorie Industrial Cluster, which are being implemented by a program for sustainable development of the region, as well as the main issues requiring cooperation by the Bulgarian government in the next years. According to him, it is necessary to extract the experience of Western Europe on regulation and business clusters, especially in Germany where there is a Center Accreditation clusters.

The main priority of Aurubis since the past years has been to improve the competitiveness of the manufacture by investment in modern equipment and technologies, to increase productivity and quality of products, energy efficiency, environment protection and creation of good working environment. Our future plans aim at sustainable growth and prosperity of the company, in order to meet the needs of the present and the future and to guarantee our sustainable development of the biggest manufacturer of copper and copper products in Southeast Europe.” said Tim Kurth, Executive Director of Aurubis Bulgaria during the meeting.

 After the working visit Minister Sedlarski made a short inspection tour of the works and took a closer view of the technology of copper extraction.

On leaving Aurubis Bulgaria, the minister wrote his message in the special “Golden” visitors’ book.
