Aurubis announced a new investment program of 260 million leva in the country
“Bulgaria gives 16% of anode copper, 8% of cathode copper, 6% of lead and 4% zinc produced in the entire European Union." said Mr. Anton Petrov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of the Metallurgical Industry (BAMI) during his presentation of the industry.
The event was hosted by the Aurubis Bulgaria in Pirdop. The occasion is 60 years since the establishment of the copper plant and the announcement of the company's new investment program for Bulgaria.
“The production data for copper are impressive, resulting from the invested so far 1.2 billion leva here." said Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev during the event. "The most valuable support that the government may have is education and the generation of good engineers", he added.
“Aurubis will directly invest another 260 million leva in Bulgaria over the next four years, with funding being entirely at the expense of the company. Our new investments are in three main directions: modernization of the plant infrastructure, new installations for more efficient extraction of raw materials with technologies developed by our R&D team, as well as new environmental investments.”, said Tim Kurth, Executive director of Aurubis Bulgaria at the presentation of the investment program.
The company carried 9% of exports and 6% of imports of the country and has a structural role in the Bulgarian economy.
